Spiritual Adoption Prayer

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen (1895 – 1979) direct

response to Roe vs. Wade in 1973, legalizing

abortion in the United States was to introduce a

means for anyone to spiritually adopt an unborn

infant who is in imminent danger of being aborted

somewhere in the world.

The spiritual foster father

or mother names the unborn child,

and then says this prayer

every day for nine months:

“Jesus, Mary, and St. Joseph,

I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of

the unborn baby whom I have spiritually adopted

who is in danger of abortion.

The name I wish to give my baby

is _______________________.”
